We hope to be able to report on the actual surf conditions each or most mornings and try to predict the next day's conditions. If we don't then the conditions are that bad (or good?).

Low Tide:
12.18
(0.6m)
High Tide:
18.12
(7.9m)

It's a peaceful one this morning with only a light breeze blowing on the two to three feet of surf.  There's one out, just off the rip and another fishing from the beach in the first half light of a lazy dawn.
The forecasts are showing that there's likely to be little change through the day, it may brighten up and the swell should build through the afternoon but the wind is likely to stay only light throughout the day.  So, this afternoon is looking a little more than promising but it is likely to be a little sloppy too.

Ah, it's another one of those clean but too small days.  that may just change on the afternoon's tide but right now it's as pretty as a picture but titchy, tiny.

Our scale for measuring conditions is the universal one; 1ft (barely rideable - your choice), 2-3ft (hip to shoulder height when trimming across the wave), 3-4ft (head high and great), 4-5ft (that little bit bigger), 6ft (very rare - well overhead), 8ft (rarely gets bigger in this country but has been known), 10ft (very rarely rideable in this country only a few breaks can hold this size). 12ft + (get yer jet ski, yer big wave gun, kiss yer family and friends good-bye and head for the hills - but I've never seen it this big and rideable in this country).

Surf Forecast for Thursday 9th September 2010

A slightly bigger swell should be rolling our way but, yes, you've guessed it, that wind is likely to strengthen and swing more westerly.  Hopefully it won't blow too strongly  and then just through the middle of the afternoon leaving the morning and evening relatively clean.

With just a little luck we may see clean conditions at Harlyn.  Maybe.

Surf Conditions for the Week Ahead

Westerly and south westerly winds are gradually looking to replace those beautiful offshores of last week.  The swell looks fairly consistent, mainly in the three foot range but obviously a lot sloppier and close fetch than it has been.
i think that it could be that old frustration of trying to choose between small but cleaner Harlyn, or bigger, bumpier other side.
We may just see a bit more Autumnal weather for just a wee while this week too!
Have a great week, whatever you're doing!
